Solved Upgrading computer to run windows 7
I have a computer that has a core duo chip in it that was built way back in 2008. It can go up to a quad core, and i can stick up to 8 gigs of ram inside.
it has Windows xp pro, I'm just wondering if i do upgrade the chip to a quad, ram, and maybe a better graphic card, and also upgrade it to windows 7 64bit,
if it would be efficient enough to run hitfilm and sony vegas pro 13. I still shoot SD(dvx100b) so im thinking it would work. Thanks!

I don't like the sound of what you are suggesting.
Which exact CPU models are you talking about ? Meaning, which model "Quad Core" are you talking about ?
Also, are you using AMD or Intel ?
Where are you going to find a 4xcore CPU that is compatible with Core Duo technology ?
I would have thought that something like this would not be for sale any more.
You can't just swap out any old CPU and replace it with a modern CPU, because the Motherboard Chipset and CPU Socket type are not going to be compatible.
For Vegas Pro 13 to work properly, you need a fast Intel i5 or i7 CPU.
A dedicated Graphics Card also helps. AMD Radeon GPU's work best with Vegas.
You also need Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1

Derek.

the cpu that i researched to go into my motherboard would be a Core 2 Quad or Core 2 Extreme intel. I would have to find it on ebay somewhere. I dont think
an i5 is going to work. The computer i have works pretty good, I know i need a better graphic card cause i think mine is bottom of the line. But if i have to
get something with an i5, i may have to go with getting another computer all together

For the new CPU to work, you must find out what Socket Type your existing CPU is and make sure the new one is the same.
Core2 Quad is an old processor type.
I really don't think it will work very well at all - this is my honest opinion.
Better to save up a buy a new computer.

This is a very old processor now. It is cheap because it is old technology.
The current Intel i5 and i7 processors can easily clock at 3.5GHz and higher.
